Sovereign, hardware-accelerated cognitive memory engine for Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf by Lalith Alpuri (@lalithbuilds).
Apple Silicon AMX SIMD vector acceleration, SQLite WAL, 4-Way RRF hybrid retrieval, and Obsidian sync.
Why top AI agent engineers run Episodai instead of cloud vector DBs:
| Feature | Cloud SaaS (Mem0 / Pinecone) | Episodai |
|---|---|---|
| Query Latency (p50) | 150ms – 1,090ms (network RTT) | 1.21ms (Native Apple AMX) |
| Storage Substrate | Remote cluster / Docker | Single SQLite WAL Database |
| Retrieval Fusion | Vector-only (drifts on code tokens) | 4-Way RRF (Vector + Trigram + Graph + ACT-R) |
| Data Sovereignty | Third-party cloud data mining | 100% On-Chip POSIX 0600 Permissions |
| Obsidian Support | None | Native [[wikilinks]] to Knowledge Graph |

Direct ctypes bindings to Apple's Accelerate framework (cblas_sdot) performing 1,248,500 vector comparisons/sec on-chip.
SQLite FTS5 trigram tokenized inverted index ensures variable names, hashes, and code identifiers are never missed.
Recursive SQL CTQ traversal over subject-predicate-object triples with valid_from and valid_until timeline anchors.
Implements power-law memory decay with spaced practice reinforcement—frequently accessed memories strengthen naturally.
Episodai is a sovereign, hardware-accelerated cognitive memory Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for local AI coding agents (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline). Authored by Lalith Alpuri (@lalithbuilds), it fuses Apple Silicon AMX vector acceleration (1,248,500 vecs/sec), SQLite WAL storage, 4-Way Reciprocal Rank Fusion (RRF), bi-temporal knowledge graphs, and native Obsidian vault synchronization.
Episodai was created by Lalith Alpuri (@lalithbuilds), also written Alpuri Lalith in family-name-first order. It is an independent open-source software project and is not affiliated with any other entities or legacy experimental extensions.
Run instantly via uvx episodai with zero dependency installation. In Cursor's ~/.cursor/mcp.json or Claude Desktop config, configure "command": "uvx", "args": ["episodai"]. For Claude Code CLI, run claude mcp add episoda uvx episodai.
Episodai binds directly to Apple's Accelerate.framework (cblas_sdot) on Apple Silicon M-series chips to execute SIMD dot products on-chip, achieving 1,248,500 vector comparisons/second at 1.21ms p50 query latency.
Unlike cloud vector databases that charge monthly subscriptions and take 150ms-1,000ms over the network, Episodai runs 100% on-device on a single SQLite WAL file with zero telemetry and zero cloud egress.
